Cadillac Celebrates 120 Years of Design and Engineering Innovation

2023 Cadillac Lineup | Beloit, WI

Since the brand’s inception 120 years ago, Cadillac has been synonymous with style, innovation, and luxury. Here’s how this legendary automaker is celebrating this landmark anniversary.

A legacy of innovation.

Cadillac made a splash by being the first brand to introduce a mass-produced V8 engine, bringing the thrill of high-performance driving to motorists across the country. The brand also made waves with its Cadillac V16, which lived up to its name by being the first-ever V16-powered production passenger car. As the years went by, Cadillac blazed new trails with technological feats like the HydraMatic fully automatic transmission and the recent introduction of Super Cruise hands-free driving technology.

The models that define Cadillac.

To commemorate the brand’s 120th anniversary, Cadillac executives Michael Simcoe and Bryan Nesbitt put the spotlight on 12 of the nameplate’s landmark vehicles. These legendary models include the 1927 LaSalle, designed by industry leader Harley Earl, along with the classic 1959 Eldorado. In the modern era, the execs highlighted the CTS-V Coupe and Wagon, as well as the stunning CELESTIQ EV.

Over the past twelve decades, it’s evident that Cadillac has led the way with trend-setting designs and industry milestones. If you’re interested in a cutting-edge model with top-of-the-line luxury, check out our inventory at Bud Weiser Motors in Beloit, Wisconsin.

Cadillac Reveals CELESTIQ Show Car

Cadillac recently revealed the stunning new CELESTIQ show car. This innovative model gives drivers a glimpse into the brand’s all-electric future — the future has never looked brighter.

Although the CELESTIQ is still in development, it already demonstrates the purest expression of Cadillac. Its design draws inspiration from vanguards of classic American architecture, including Eero Saarinen, the mind behind the iconic St. Louis Arch, the TWA Flight Center at the JFK Airport, and Washington Dulles International Airport.

Laetitia Lopez, a creative designer for Cadillac Color and Trim, explained that the CELESTIQ embodies both form and function. “We had to reconsider all aspects to immerse the customer, all of their senses, and create a connection with the vehicle through the finest genuine materials, exceptional detailing, and advanced technology,” she stated in a press release.

Some of the most exciting aspects of this model include its industry-first features. The variable-transmission Smart Glass Roof lets you fine-tune the amount of light let into the cabin. Plus, it features Ultra Cruise, the next step in the evolution of the Super Cruisehands-free driving technology found on other Cadillac models.

Cadillac Models Add New MagneRide 4.0 Technology

2021 Cadillac Escalade | Beloit, WI

Get ready for an even smoother ride around Beloit, Wisconsin, thanks to the new MagneRide 4.0, now offered for Cadillac models. This next-generation Magnetic Ride Control system takes the superior performance quality of Cadillac vehicles and makes it even better. Debuting on the Cadillac CT4-V, CT5-V, Escalade, and CT5 Sport, MagneRide 4.0 is a fantastic suspension technology.

Innovative Technology

MagneRide 4.0 is the fourth generation of the Cadillac Magnetic Ride Control technology and improves responsiveness in varying road conditions. This version introduces major updates to the system, like new wheel accelerometers and updated magnetic flux control. It also has an inertial measurement unit, which is sensitive to the motion of the vehicle and allows it to adapt more quickly to bumps in the road.

A Smoother Ride

Within the active damping system, magnetorheological fluid and electromagnets work together to control the damping rate. The wheel accelerometers can read the road as much as 1,000 times each second. These readings then cause the magnetic charge to change, which in turn adjusts the damping rates of the vehicle’s shocks. The result of the system is a more relaxing, smoother ride, even on rough roads.

MagneRide 4.0 is just one of several innovations included in new Cadillac models. Discover more about these models when you give us a call at Bud Weiser Motors in Beloit, Wisconsin.
